Analysis of over 25,000 student reviews on website Whatuni.com, has revealed that the Yorkshire-based institution topped the category for best city life, also scoring highly in the overall category placing fifth in the best university category.

The league table ranks 125 universities across 10 categories - accommodation, city life, clubs and societies, courses and lecturers, job prospects, student union, facilities, support services and an overall rating - with institutions considered for an award if they meet a minimum threshold of reviews, depending on the size of institution.

According to the data, for the second year in a row, overall student satisfaction has gone up; rising from 81 per cent in 2015 to 83 per cent this year. However, four areas have seen significant drops, including job prospects, student support, clubs and societies, and student unions.

Dr David Llewellyn, vice-chancellor of Harper Adams University, said: “We are thrilled to have been named the University of the Year.

"The fact that these awards are based on student reviews is immensely important to us, because they recognise the dedication of everyone at Harper Adams in building a strong academic community that delivers a positive experience for our students."
