Biosensor technology for rapid diagnostics
Professor Paul Milner has led a team of scientists on a project to develop antibody-based biosensor technologies.

Professor Paul Milner from the Faculty of Biological Sciences led a team of scientists from several institutions on a project to develop antibody-based biosensor technologies, which was funded through a large (€2.7m) European Union research grant called ELISHA. The team has developed an immuno-sensor platform, which provides a rapid method to test for markers of a range of diseases, giving the potential for rapid diagnosis. The aim is to commercialise a point-of-care device which could be used in doctor’s surgeries. The technology is covered by a number of patents, and a spinout company - ELISHA Systems Ltd - has been set up to bring the technology to market.
