Week 8: Effective Presentations (oral & poster communications)

Tuesday 15th November at 12pm (Venue to be announced)

This session will introduce how to prepare and deliver effective oral communications and poster communications in a scientific community. This session will be led by Charlotte Haigh (FBS).

5 TOP TIPS for effective oral and poster communications

  1. Stick to the guidelines (these are usually given well in advance): Always more pictures, fewer words as a general rule
  2. Prepare well in advance (whether working individually or as a group)
  3. Practise, practise, practise (even poster communications usually have to be presented verbally)
  4. Revise the topic area thoroughly, as most often there will be opportunities for staff or fellow students to ask questions
  5. Practise in front of other people
