Research Interests

My research is mainly focused on the production and characterisation of acellular immunocompatible soft tissue matrices.  Our group has developed patented methods for the decellularisation of allogeneic and xenogeneic tissues including, aortic roots, pericardium, amniotic membrane and arteries.  These matrices have been extensively characterised and are being evaluated for their ability to regenerate into functional living tissues.  These tissue matrices are currently being seeded with cells to determine the biocompatibility and potential for regeneration.

Further research is focused on the creation of novel in vitro models of healthy and diseased arteries, which may be used to evaluate novel grafts or therapeutics.
