Guest lecture from Leeds Biochemistry alumnus, Dr Nicholas Lydon

Leeds University alumnus Dr Nicholas Lydon, FRS, will visit the University on Monday 29 September to deliver a guest lecture.

Dr Lydon graduated from Leeds in 1978 (BSc Biochemistry) and was subsequently awarded a PhD by the University of Dundee. He has since played a critical role in the development of Gleevac, a drug which has helped save the lives of thousands of cancer patients by changing rapidly fatal diseases into easily treatable conditions. Dr Lydon’s work has been recognised internationally and in 2013 he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society. His research continues to have a huge influence on those working on new therapies aimed at combatting a range of cancers. The University will mark the occasion of Dr Lydon’s visit by awarding him an Honorary Doctorate of Medicine.
