Secrets for Successful Study 2023/2024


Overview

Welcome to the Faculty of Biological Sciences' Secrets for Successful Study programme which will give you hints and tips for your studies at Leeds and help you to become a successful independent learner. To aid you with this, the programme will highlight certain topics through Semester one of your first year that we think you may need extra support with.

Timetabled group sessions will take place as follows

Semester 1: All venues are detailed below but are subject to change, so please check your emails regularly for updates. All sessions are scheduled to take place for one hour.

Week 2: How to be successful in independent study
               - Tuesday 4th October 12:00pm - Michael Sadler LG10

Week 4: How to effectively write scientific reports, including referencing
               - Tuesday 18th October at 12:00pm - Worsley SR Y

 

Week 6: Planning and preparing essays and searching online academic materials
               - Tuesday 1st November at 12:00 - Roger Stevens LT23

 

Week 8: Giving effective presentations (both oral communications and posters)
               - Tuesday 15th November at 12:00 - Worsley SR Y

 

Week 10: The exams, techniques for success and marking criteria
                - Tuesday 29th November at 12:00 - Worsley SR Y
