Hiscox Lab
Several PhD opportunities are available:

These are listed on findaphd.com.
Funded PhD places:
We are currently recruiting for a new PhD student through the Astbury BBSRC DTG scheme (see below). The closing date for applications in the first week in January 2011.
Astbury BBSRC PhD studentships which provide both stipend and fees. Note only home-rated students are really eligible for these. These are four year PhD studentships which are highly competitive so please only apply if you are in possession of, or are predicted to get, either an upper second or first class honours degree from a reputable University! Under this scheme you would spend four years in my laboratory.
Wellcome Trust PhD studentships which provide both stipend and fees. These are four year PhD studentships focusing on projects which are primarily structural or biophysical in nature. The first year of the scheme is spent rotating around different laboratories, with three years then spent in my laboratory. Again entry onto this scheme is highly competitive so as above only apply if you are in possession of, or are predicted to get, either an upper second or first class honours degree from a reputable University!
Self-funded students:
International or domestic self-funded or scholarship/fellowship PhD students are welcome in the laboratory. However, you must have a good command of the English language both written and spoken and be in possession of, or are predicted to get, either an upper second or first class honours degree (or equivalent) from a reputable University! Most importantly bench fees will be required if you are self-funded so please do not apply unless you have these. Under this scheme you would spend three years in my laboratory.
For all interested applicants:
Please check the current people page and also lab alumni pages to see what projects previous students did, where they moved on to and also have a look at their publications. Our philosophy is that your project should be fascinating and fun and not represent an insurmountable hurdle. With that in mind you can also expect two or more first author publications out of your time in the lab.
