Research Studentships

We are keen to educate and encourage talented individuals who have a serious interest in research and its associated activities. If you are interested in any of the opportunities below, your first action should be to make informal contact with a potential supervisor by e-mail, attaching a copy of your curriculum vitae.

Postgraduate degrees (PhD, MD, MSc)
Individuals wishing to undertake a research degree should have a high quality first degree in an appropriate discipline (BSc, medical or equivalent). Projects should be developed with a supervisor and submitted in accordance with the conditions specified by the FBS Graduate School.

We also have two 4 year internally funded PhD Demonstrator positions available per annum.

Undergraduate vacation studentships
Summer vacation studentships offer the opportunity for undergraduate students to work in our laboratories during the summer vacation. This type of experience is ideal if you are thinking of continuing with a career in research after graduating, or if you would like to find out what research is all about. These projects normally last for 8-12 weeks, and are typically undertaken at the end of the 2nd year of undergraduate study, but this is not always a requirement. Please make contact with a potential supervisor well in advance (e.g. November/December) for a project starting in June/July. Applications should be made to the Faculty Research Office in accordance with their conditions.
