Faculty of Biological Sciences

Fundamental and applied plant sciences underpinning a new generation of crop science.

Plant science research at Leeds addresses fundamental biological mechanisms as related to plants and also addresses the global challenge of maintaining our food supply in the context of a sustainable agriculture. Research is focused in the Centre for Plant Sciences which maintains a high level of both research income and publication outputs. Research programmes range from the study of cell mechanisms and gene activity in model systems through to the development of novel strategies for controlling the impacts of abiotic stresses and pests in a range of crop species.
