What attracted me most about my course at University of Leeds was the Centre for Plant Sciences (CPS) which is a multidisciplinary research centre within the University. This research centre exclusively deals in plant sciences research and has got some very good facilities. Since I am interested in research-based learning, I opted for this University. The scholarship scheme also attracted me to Leeds.
I really like working in the laboratory as it gives me a practical experience of the theoretical knowledge taught to students. The weekly research seminars have also been quite interesting, as they give students an idea of what kind of research is being done across the country and gives an opportunity to talk to the guests about their research.
The assessments really challenge you to do extra reading and learn more about the topics on your own. The modules also develop independent study skills, which is important in research-based work.
Meeting people from an international background has been the most exciting aspect of coming to Leeds. I visit the Global Café every Monday, which the international office organises, and I get a chance to meet people from all over the world every week!
