Leeds Skin/Evocutis

Evocutis offers a highly specialised portfolio of assays, models and clinical protocols focused entirely on skin science.

In 1990 a group of research scientists from the Faculty of Biological Sciences founded the Skin Research Centre at the University of Leeds, which focused on skin and clinical dermatology research. The company Leeds Skin Centre for Applied Research Ltd was spun out from the University in 2009 to focus on contract research services for skin and clinical dermatology applications. In 2011 this company was purchased by another University of Leeds spin out company, Syntopix, which specialised in the discovery and development of drugs for the topical treatment of dermatological diseases. Syntopix was founded in 2003 by University of Leeds researchers Dr Jon Cove and Dr Anne Eady, leading experts in skin microbiology.

After the acquisition of Leeds Skin, the company name was changed to Evocutis. The focus of this new company lies in providing high grade research skin models and related services, along with microbiological research contract services. The company offers a highly specialised portfolio of assays, models and clinical protocols focused entirely on skin science, including a validated in vitro model of human skin, the living skin equivalent.
