Sports and Exercise Sciences Alumnus Alistair Brownlee has been awarded an MBE in the 2012 New Year Honours list for his services to Triathlon.
Alistair was honoured alongside the rest of Team GB’s gold medal winning athletes as well as his coach Malcolm Brown. Alistair said in a statement:”I’m thrilled and honoured, and I’m looking forward to meeting the Queen.”
In November, Brownlee was named the Olympic Athlete of the Year at the British Triathlon annual awards ceremony in Birmingham and was named GB British Triathlon Male Elite Triathlete of the Year for the fifth successive year.
Alistair graduated from the University of Leeds in Sports and Exercise Sciences 2009.
