Former Student wins 3rd place at the
Dr Scott Bowen was recognised at the recent MRC competition

Alumnus, Dr Scott Bowen was awarded 3rd place at the "Medical Research Council (MRC) Celebration of International Collaboration" poster competition recently.

The event celebrated a century of international collaboration and showcased some key achievements.

Dr Bowen presented two papers for The failing heart…and leg muscles too and Non-invasive imaging of skeletal muscle dysfunction in heart failure. The presentation focused on the MRC–sponsored work he carried out for his PhD at the University of Leeds and Kobe in collaboration with Japanese partners.

Scott received his BSc in Sports Science at Leeds, and then went on to an MSc at Loughborough, before returning to Leeds for his PhD with Dr Klaus Witte and Dr Harry B Rossiter. He is currently doing his post-doctoral work at the Leipzig Heart Institute in Germany, supported by a personal fellowship from the Humboldt Foundation.
