EPSRC PhD Studentship

Closing date: 26th June 2015

Fully-funded 3.5 year PhD studentship, to start in October 2015. We welcome applications from candidates who are either a) UK nationals or b) EU nationals who have lived in the UK for the last 3 years AND hold or are expecting a 2.1 or above at undergraduate level in a relevant subject

Mechano-physical properties of the biopolymer callose: a matrix and a sealant? - Dr Yoselin Benitez-Alfonso (Biology) with Dr Michael Ries (Physics)

Distribution, local and systemic effects of wear particles from spinal devices and instrumentation after spinal cord injury - Dr Ronaldo Ichiyama (Biomedical Sciences) with Prof. Joanne Tipper (Biomedical Sciences & Mechanical Engineering) and Prof. Richard Hall (Mechanical Engineering)

Predicting and quantifying the effects of fibrosis on arrhythmogenesis using a combined experimental, imaging and modelling approach - Dr Al Benson (Biomedical Sciences) with Prof. Arun Holden (Biomedical Sciences), Prof. Ed White (Biomedical Sciences), and Dr Michael Ries (Physics and Astronomy), Clinical collaborators: Prof. Sven Plein, Dr Muzahir Tayebjee

A smart neural bridge with the capability to adapt to maximise and refine signal transport across a spinal break - Dr Samit Chakrabarty (Biomedical Sciences) with Dr David Steenson (Engineering)

University Research Scholarships

Closing date:1st June 2015

2 University Research Scholarships are available for students from the United Kingdom and other EU countries who are commencing PhD study from October 2015. Each scholarship will cover the cost of academic fees at the University's standard UK/EU rate and provide an annual maintenance grant (amount to be confirmed). Applicants must hold at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree or equivalent undergraduate degree. More information

Emma & Leslie Reid Scholarship

Closing date:1 June 2015

1 Emma & Leslie Reid Scholarship will be available for a student from the UK or other EU countries for full-time PhD study from October 2015 in the area of diseases of the heart or brain (or kindred diseases). The award will cover the full cost of academic fees at the University of Leeds standard UK/EU rate and will provide a maintenance grant of £10,000 per annum. More information

Frank Parkinson Scholarship

Closing date:1 June 2015

1 Frank Parkinson Scholarship will be available for a student to undertake full-time PhD study from October 2015. The student must be born of British parents who have been domiciled in Yorkshire for a period of not less than ten years. The award will cover academic fees at the University of Leeds standard UK/EU rate and provide a maintenance grant of £10,000 per annum. More information

1 Mary and Alice Smith Memorial Scholarship is available for a British candidate who is single and lives in the United Kingdom wishing to undertake research into the prevention or cure of cancer or heart disease.
