Electron microscopy (EM), in all its guises, is an essential tool in modern biology. The Astbury Biostructure laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art microscopes for both scanning and transmission EM of ambient and cryogenicaly prepared samples. Details of the services and techniques we can offer are provided via the menu items on the left-hand-side of this page. However in short, we can provide you with everything you will need to image your specimen. These include grids and other consumables, carbon & sputter coating units, state-of-the-art freezing devices, ultramicrotomes, and the microscope themselves. Perhaps most importantly we can provide you with friendly advice and expertise, and a realistic assessment of the costs involved in answering your research questions.
