Lunchtime workshop, Thursday 27th May 2010, 12:30-14:00, Astbury Level 11 seminar room.
FBS seminar As an academic it is increasingly important to both communicate and work with external partners from beyond the academic community. Research Councils are increasingly seeking to fund research which can clearly demonstrate its broader societal and economic impact, and they now require an Impact Summary and Pathway to Impact (formally known as an Impact Plan) as part of new grant applications. In this session we will ask what we mean by impact, with a presentation from Professor Eileen Ingham on the impact of her research, followed by an interactive exercise on drafting a Pathway to Impact.
The session will be facilitated by Dr. Odette Dewhurst from SDDU, with assistance from Dr. Sally Whiteman, FBS Enterprise Officer, both of whom have research backgrounds in the biological/biomedical sciences.
Hot and cold drinks, cakes and biscuits will be provided - please bring any additional lunch you want to eat. If you would like to attend, please register your attendance by email to Sally Whiteman, s.a.whiteman@leeds.ac.uk
