There are many residences in various locations, with facilities ranging from pool tables to squash courts, with a choice of self catered or catered. Here at Leeds we offer you the choice to ensure university life gives you exactly what you want.
All residents (excluding family and summer contracts) in University accommodation receive membership to The Edge, the University’s flagship fitness, sport and wellbeing facility included in the rent.

Our guarantee
The University guarantees accommodation for all single, first year undergraduates as long as you apply by the deadline (see University Accommodation webpages). We are also usually able to help students entering via clearing to find a place.

e University and the Students Union provide excellent opportunities to keep healthy whether you want to participate for fun, at club level or elite level. Faculty of Biological Sciences Society (FoBSoc)
The student-run Faculty of Biological Sciences Society is the social centre of the Faculty. The society organises both social and sporting events and have a wide array of teams, including football and rugby, that compete in the intra mural league. From karaoke nights to the famous 'Otley Run' and even an annual trip to Amsterdam, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and make friends in the Faculty.
FoBSoc won the Leeds University Union (LUU) award for 'Best Collaboration' for the Sciences Ball they organised alongside chemistry and physics societies this year. The ball was a hugely successful black tie event attended by students and staff across the science faculties within the University.
Anyone can join, undergraduate or postgraduate, and if you're eager to develop your CV there are opportunities to join the FoBSoc committee and try your hand at organising and managing one of the many events run by the society.
Leeds University Union (LUU)
Leeds has one of the largest student unions in the country. Leeds University Union exists to represent, support and entertain students throughout their student years.
LUU has more student activities than any other union in the UK - over 200 student-run societies including sports groups, departmental groups, performance groups, faith groups, political groups, volunteering groups and general interest groups - to name but a few !
The Union building is located at the heart of the campus. As well as providing award-winning bars and nightclubs, it has shops and a supermarket, insurance and advice services.
The University of Leeds Students' Union was recognised as the "Number One Students' Union in the UK" in the NUS Awards 2009. It has been shortlisted for the 2011 award, as well as being one of only two unions in the UK to be accredited gold status in the Students' Union Evaluation Inititative (SUEI).
